Before I begin...

Deep breath, ok here we go.

~

Beginnings are strange things because you never know how it will end up. Either it makes a deep, long-lasting imprint or it barely makes a ripple in the proverbial pond. Sounds extreme, but truly, all things end up this way. And 99.99 percent of the time, I think, it tends to be the latter. As the brilliantly eloquent Hazel Grace Lancaster (yes, I am making a TFIOS reference-go ahead and judge) said, “There will come a time when there are no human beings remaining to remember that anyone ever existed or that our species ever did anything. There will be no one left to remember Aristotle or Cleopatra, let alone you. ”

But I guess there is something gallant about trying. There’s something admirable that we are willing to get back out there and face the wave that knocks us down, recedes as if giving up, only to pummel us once again because what we feel and who we are are not nothing. They may be tiny specks of matter drowned in a universe that is impossibly impossible but matter-the physical state and the act of mattering-has mass and power. Maybe the fact that we are incredibly insignificant makes our beginnings even more significant because that means that they just have all the more impact on what really matters. Think about it from another perspective and we have to whittle down almost all of the universe which is more or less the same to get to this Earth. It’s special with all of its petty struggles and stupid people (don’t be offended but unless you’re actually Michelle Obama or Malala or someone of equal god-like status, this applies to you).

Or everything we do is all for naught, and that’s okay too.

And at this point I’ve made this first post unnecessarily deep as if my writing had anything really meaningful about it but whatever, this is mostly just an pre-written excuse in case I get lazy and give up in a couple weeks.
