Sooooooo as we all know the Becca highlighters are super well known and raved about, but still I would like to add my own input in on this crazy highlighter trend. THAT I HAPPENED TO PAY $40+ for with tax.

First of all, I own the Becca pressed highlighter in Opal, NOT Champagne Pop. After much hesitation and months of consideration (due to the kinda high price point) I walked into Sephora one day and basically caved in, which happens unhealthily often.

The reason I chose Opal instead of the super hyped up Champagne Pop is because in my unfiltered opinion, Opal suits asian skin tones better than CP does. Now there seems to be a cult-ish culture behind CP that believes that CP suits everyone no matter what skin tone they have but personally I believe that CP suits caucasian skin tones a lot more often than it suits any other skin tones. HOWEVER, if you think that a color looks good on you THAN YOU GO FOR IT!

Back to OPAL… I give it a ✿✿✿✿❀

Color: Pinky Gold hue that looks slightly peachy but not quite orange enough to be peach

Pigmentation: If I rated this highlighter on pigmentation alone it would receive a 5/5. The swatches come out beautiful with uniform shimmer all throughout, and the shimmer is fine and soft and does not consist of big flaky chunks of glitter. The shine of the powder is visible from very long distances and photographs pretty nicely.

Texture: The Texture of the pressed highlighters from Becca are nice but they aren’t PERFECT. First of all, for the price I’m paying for this highlighter I really do think that it should be absolutely magical. The pros are that the highlight is soft and applies smoothly, HOWEVER, the highlighter does get the tiniest bit patchy on drier skin and can sometimes cause you to become oily. *which is super weird because it’s a powder product*

Fan Brush

Application: I would recommend using a denser fan brush for this product because thinner brushes are more likely to create patchiness with the Becca highlighters. Also the denser bristles are able to better pick up the shine in an even layer.

Tip: If you wet a pointed eyeshadow brush with setting spray and use the highlighter on your inner corners, your eyes will really pop and shine

Packaging

Packaging: Packaging wise the case of the Becca highlighters may look super sturdy.. But sadly don’t let that fool you. They are known to shatter and break very easily with one drop so I would think twice before bringing it on a trip.

Final thoughts: Is the Opal highlighter completely worth the money spent? For me yes, but in reality it’s not because although I really love this highlighter, there are several drugstore brands that are just a fraction of the price of the Becca highlighter and produce shine that is just as strong (ex. Physician’s Formula, L’oreal, and ELF)
