When I traveled to Korea I had my mind set on obtaining a cushion blush. After seeing the line friends and Missha collaboration and the adorable mini cushion blushes I really wanted to find more affordable ones in the Land of the Cushions. I just happened to get really lucky when I stumbled upon the cutest packaging I have ever seen when I walked into the Watsons at Dongdaemeun Design Plaza. There in front of me was the Rilakkuma x A’Pieu cushion blush. There were three shades at the Watsons I was at and I picked the color CR01, which was the more colorish one out of the three. The pink one was way too light for my skin while the redder one just wasn’t a color that I knew that I would wear.

I give it a ✿✿✿❀❀

Color: The color of the CR01 cushion blush is a coral that leans towards more of the pink side.

small amounts of product to build up color

Pigmentation: These cushion blushes are pigmented, but at the same time due to their consistency they aren’t. (because they apply a super thin layer) You really only need to barely tap the cushion to obtain enough product to cover one if not both cheeks, and the blush is easily buildable. Annoyingly so however, it is important to make sure you don’t grab too much product because not only may you look clown-ish if your cheeks are overly pink, but also because the puff may dispense unused product onto the casing and cause a mess.

Texture: One of the cons of this product is that the texture of the actual liquid blush in the cushion is very, VERY wet. It’s good for a liquid blush to be appropriately wet since you don’t want the product to dry up in the cushion’s sponge but at the same time due to the product also being pretty thin, the wetness of the blush disturbs the base makeup that you already have on. This is one of the reasons why I took of a rating.

Also, another reason I took off a rating is the fact that the product has a very interesting scent to it. It’s slightly floral, and sweet which isn’t terrible, but then it also has a cloyingly chemical scent which if I sniffed for too long would give me a headache. Thankfully, the smell does go away, but I still dislike the fact that there was such a scent in the first place.

Application: You apply the blush with an adorable mini cushion puff that feels similar to the etude house air puffs but is just smaller and slightly puffier. With a tap on the product covered cushion you can gently tap product onto your face in circles to slowly blend it out.

Tip: To set this product since it is excessively wet, use a translucent powder or even a powder blush that is similar in shade.

Packaging: The obviously adorable, heart bursting images of Rilakkuma on the cases of these blushes is more than enough to convince me to purchase this product. Added with the miniature cushion puff on the inside I could just die with happiness. These compacts do seem to be slightly smaller than normal cushion foundations though, so sadly I don’t think that you can use the case for anything other than liquid blush cushions.

Super Cute Puff

Final thoughts: Is the product worth buying? Truthfully, No, because there are other cushion blushes that I think have a better quality product on the inside. HOWEVER, due to packaging this product can be purchased as a collectors item. And also it’s just really handy since the cushion makes application super easy and fast.
